Samsung Electronics is getting a head start in the web3 race. By developing a collaboration with several companies in the sector, the South Korean giant wants to impose itself in the field of NFT well before its competitor called Apple.
A partnership with industry leaders
In a logic of adoption of new technologies related to the web3, Samsung announced to develop an ecosystem named “Galaxy NFT“. The news comes from a report published by the South Korean press. In these writings, we learn that the brand has formed a partnership with six companies:
- Theta Labs (NFT broadcast)
- Alllink (NFT authentication)
- E-cruise (NFT certification)
- Digital Plaza (NFT certification)
- Shilla Duty Free (NFT certification)
- Show Golf (NFT certification)
Through this alliance, the electronics company aims to develop a complete protocol dedicated to NFT.
In concrete terms, the Galaxy NFT project should offer a multitude of benefits to customers. Among these benefits, Samsung explains that the community and holders of the New Galaxy NFT could have access to exclusive discounts reserved through the certification of the various partners above.
To do this, the “Galaxy NFT” ecosystem has been deployed on the Moonbeam platform, a multi-chain (briefly, a bridge connecting 2 blockchains) taking into account the smart contracts of Ethereum on the Polkadot network.
The project is not new since the brand has been “teasing” it on tablets and smartphones for several days. Indeed, customers who pre-ordered a Galaxy Z Flip 4 or Z Fold 4 were pleased to receive a “New Galaxy NFT“.
Samsung wants to develop its web3 branch
Despite the significant drop in the NFT market, some companies are determined to develop an ecosystem dedicated to these non-fungible tokens. Among these companies wishing to democratize the uses of blockchain, we find the electronics giant Samsung.
Indeed, the brand which seems to be used to Web3 technologies has multiplied the announcements aiming at democratizing this new sector among its customers. The Korean company is not at its first try with the web3 since in January 2022, it had put a first foot in the Metaverse. For the occasion, Samsung had reproduced one of its physical stores in the virtual world of Decentraland to sell NFT.
In a bid to adopt non-fungible tokens on a larger scale, Samsung even went so far as to offer a TV set integrating the Nifty Gateway platform dedicated to NFTs, so that customers could display their “blockchainized” works on the 8K screen like a painting.
Finally, in June, Apple’s competitor even developed its own Discord community server dedicated to web3. The initiative was a success as the Samsung US server reached more than 100,000 members, only 12 hours after its launch, reflecting a strong demand for this type of web3 experience.
With this new announcement, the brand confirms its interest in NFT:
Samsung seems determined to continue exploring this new path. By developing uses in the early days of the NFT era, the company could establish itself as a leader in the sector before a possible arrival of Apple in the non-fungible token sector.
Samsung Electronics will continue to innovate the customer experience that connects the virtual and real world by using NFT with various partners,” says a manager at Samsung Electronics.
